Paramount Animation Announces Release Dates

Paramount Animation today announced release dates for several of the studio’s upcoming films, which will be released by the studio beginning in March of 2016, through March of 2019.

Opening March 18, 2016, The Little Prince is directed by Academy Award nominee Mark Osborne (Kung Fu Panda) and features the voices of Mackenzie Foy, Jeff Bridge, Riley Osborne, Marion Cotillard, James Franco, Paul Rudd, Benicio del Toro, Paul Giamatti, Ricky Gervais, Albert Brooks, and Bud Cort. The film is the first-ever animated feature adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s iconic masterpiece, The Little Prince.

Monster Trucks, from Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies, and previously scheduled for March 18, 2016 will now open January 13, 2017. A hybrid of live action and CGI animation directed by Chris Wedge (Epic, Robots, Ice Age), the cast includes Jane Levy, Lucas Till, Tom Lennon, Barry Pepper, Amy Ryan, Danny Glover, Holt McCallany and Frank Whaley.

On February 8, 2019, the studio will release SpongeBob SquarePants 3. From Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies, and the team that brought us the hit film SpongeBob SquarePants: Sponge Out of Water, the follow-up film will again be directed by Paul Tibbitt and will feature the voices of Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, and Mr. Lawrence.

The original animated film Amusement Park will open March 22, 2019. From veteran animation director Dylan Brown (Supervising Animator on Ratatouille and Finding Nemo, Directing Animator on Toy Story), the film stars the voices Matthew Broderick, Jennifer Garner, Jeffrey Tambor, Kenan Thompson, Ken Jeong, Mila Kunis, John Oliver, and Brianna Denski.

The studio also recently announced that Elton John’s Rocket Pictures Sherlock Gnomes will open on January 12, 2018. From Paramount and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, the film is directed by John Stevenson (Kung Fu Panda) and comes from the makers of the hit animated movie Gnomeo and Juliet. The film will star the voices of Johnny Depp as Sherlock Gnomes, and welcomes back stars James McAvoy as Gnomeo and Emily Blunt as Juliet.
