Parallels Access

Parallels has released a new version of Access, its remote access app for the iPad. The v1.1 update has been redesigned to match the look of iOS 7, but has also gained a variety of features, including full support for OS X Mavericks and Windows 7, 8, and 8.1. The update also includes easier access for people on restricted networks, since the app now just needs a single connection on port 443.

Subscription options have meanwhile switched to a per-user rather than a per-machine basis, allowing a single person to connect to as many as 10 computers. The new options cost $5 monthly, or $50 per year; a two-week free trial is available beforehand. Previously, an annual subscription was $80.

Parallels has lastly localized the app in 11 new languages. These include German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, and traditional and simplified Chinese. The app requires an iPad running iOS 6 or later.
