Panasonic announced today the impending release of its AG-AC90 memory card camera recorder, an addition to its AVCCAM series. TheAG-AC90 will have a zoom lens capable of extending from 29.8mm wide angle to 12x optical zoom, and it will include a number of professional-grade features while remaining easy to operate. The camera will be available in October of this year, and Panasonic will be showing it off at the Beijing International Radio, TV & Film Equipment Exhibition in late August.

In addition to its 12x zoom lens, the AG-AC90 will be capable of 2x, 5x, 10x, and 25x digital zoom. The lens also bears Panasonic’s Nano Surface Coating, which is intended to minimize ghosting and flaring.

The AG-AC90 will also sport backside illumination corresponding 1/4.7 type MOS image sensors with an effective pixel count of 2.19MP. It will have triple manual rings for focus, zoom, and iris operation and a 1,150,000 dot resolution LCD monitor capable of rotating 270 degrees for low- and high-angle shooting.

The camera will be capable of 1920×1080 Full-HD and 60p progressive image acquisition. Its dual SD card slots — supporting SDXC, SDHC, and SD memory cards — will allow for backup recording, and it can capture 3MP still shots during video recording. It will also support 2-channel XLR audio inputs and is capable of HDMI output, AV Multi output, and USB output.

The AG-AC90 AVCCAM recorder will be available in October of this year. It has a suggested price of €1800 ($2224).
