NIS America and MAGES Inc have launched a new dungeon-crawling, anime-stylized, Japanese RPG called Operation Babel: New Tokyo Legacy. The game is a follow-up to Operation Abyss, and sees players having to defend Tokyo once again from a new and even more dangerous threat.

The game originally came out on the PlayStation Vita a few years ago over in Japan. After simmering the game in the localization skillet, NIS America decided to bring Operation Babel to North America and Europe for both the PS Vita and on Steam for PC.

They released a trailer to give you a glimpse of what the game is like as a classic JRPG dungeon-crawler. You can check it out below. The trailer doesn’t do much at all to actually introduce you to the gameplay, but it does introduce you to the cast of characters you’ll encounter along the way.

In addition to the story outline, they also reveal over on the Steam page that there’s deep character customization using the Blood Code System to upgrade and outfit characters with various abilities, as well as item-based skills and a spell system to utilize during combat.

They also reveal that the game’s Rise & Drop/Risk & Reward system has made a return from the original Operation Abyss. This means that you can get a hold of extremely powerful items but at the expense of taking on equally powerful enemies.
