Nuance Launches Dragon Go!

Nuance has launched Dragon Go!, a new app for iOS devices. The free title runs a variety of web searches based on voice commands. Users can for instance ask for music, movie showtimes or weather forecasts.

The app uses preferred sites to fulfill requests, for instance directing people to Pandora for Internet radio or Yelp for reviews. A Dragon Carousel component lets people see related information, such as Twitter posts or Wikipedia articles. Some other features include sharing via email, SMS, Facebook and Twitter, and the ability to type in searches when voice won’t work.

Dragon Go! supports any iOS device from the iPhone 3GS onward, and can function over both Wi-Fi and 3G connections.

Nuance is thought to be in a partnership with Apple, but an expected announcement was not made at WWDC. In combination with technology acquired from Siri, Apple is believed to be working on more advanced voice recognition for iOS. One rumor claims that Siri integration simply wasn’t finished in time to be demonstrated at WWDC.
