If you have an older Noctua CPU cooler and still haven’t requested the upgrade kit to make it compatible with LGA115x sockets, you still can.

Whenever a new socket comes out, Noctua is usually the first to unveil its compatibility charts for that new socket. With Skylake around the corner, the company delivered again.

Of course, the new socket that the Skylake CPUs will drop into is the same as the recent older mainstream LGA sockets from Intel, so unsurprisingly, if a CPU cooler is compatible with the LGA1150, 1156 or 1155 socket, it will also be compatible with the LGA1151 socket that the next-gen motherboards for Skylake CPUs will ship with.

If you have an older Noctua cooler, however, and you haven’t yet requested the conversion kit to make it compatible with LGA115x sockets, the good news today is that you still can. Noctua is continuing its trend of offering the kit for free — on select coolers, of course. They are known as the NM-i115x mounting kits.

“We’re determined to provide the best possible support to our customers and over the years, we’ve sent many thousands of mounting kits free of charge to users who wanted to upgrade to new platforms,” says Mag. Roland Mossig, Noctua’s CEO.

To be eligible for the upgrade you need two things: proof of purchase for the Noctua cooler in question, and proof of purchase for an LGA115x motherboard or CPU.

To check whether your cooler is eligible, you should check these compatibility charts.
