Nintendo this week said the Wii hardware sold 190,000 units at U.S. retail in Aug.

The hardware ranked two exclusive titles in the top 10 games sales, including Ubisoft Inc.’s Just Dance Summer Party and Just Dance 2 at No. 7.

Nintendo in July said the company held a Q1 net loss of $324 million. For the fiscal year ending Mar. 2012, it expects a profit of $257 million, down 82 percent from a prior forecast.

Wii sales fell to 1.56 million in the quarter, down from 3.04 million one year prior.

Nintendo in June said it will release Wii U, the successor the Wii hardware, in 2012.

Wii U Details

The Wii U includes a multi-core CPU by IBM Corp., a Radeon-based high-definition GPU by AMD, and will utilize flash storage with optional expansion through SD memory cards or an external hard drive.

The full high-definition hardware can relay 1080p resolution with HDMI or component cables. It will also support S-Video and composite cables.

The Wii U controller includes a 6.2-inch, 16:9 touch screen that allows users to transfer gameplay to the controller screen, or use the added screen to relay menu items.

The controller includes two analog circle pads, a d-pad, touch screen, microphone, speakers, gyrophone, face buttons and two sets of triggers.
