Australia 18 PlusThe Classification Board of Australia has announced Wii U console title, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, is first game to receive adult classification; title will be rated R18+ for high impact violence.

According to the Classification Board , the Team Ninja developed action adventure title received an R18+ for “high impact bloody violence”. In the game, players assume the role of Ryu Hayabusa, a cursed ninja battling a terrorist organization.

Australia’s harsh video game restrictions have been criticized for years. The country passed a bill in June allowing the sale of video games targeted at players 15 years of age and older.

As of January 1, 2013, these new laws allow for the sale of games like Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, making it the first adult video game to launch in Australia.
