New Swype Now Offers Four Ways To Enter Text

Posted by at 10:26 am on June 20, 2012

Nuance today launched a major new version of its Swype text-entry software for Android. The software now includes a more traditional XT9 predictive text keyboard, Dragon voice dictation, and a handwriting recognition mode. Swype’s original word-tracing mode remains, of course.

All four options benefit from the advanced word-prediction engine of XT9. All four modes also share a common dictionary of user words, which can learn from both input and existing emails, texts, and posts. The software is available today to download as in beta form. It is also available to Android OEMs, and an SDK is available for manufacturers wishing to bring Swype to other platforms.
