New Sony Xperia XZ Premium Firmware Update Fixes camera Issues – Plus Adds November Security Patch

The Xperia XZ Premium is the first Sony smartphone to have received the Android 8.0 Oreo update. While, the update contained a fix for a known camera issue that caused news issues with the camera.

Android 8.0 Oreo broke the camera sensor’s functionality, which meant that the RGBC-IR and ToF (Laser AF) features were not working which lead to blurry pics and some features like 3D Creator were no longer functional.

Now Sony Mobile has updated firmware for the Xperia XZ Premium , moving it from build number 47.1.A.3.254 to version 47.1.A.5.51. This update includes a fix for the camera sensor issues that owners of the dual-SIM version were encountering, where the RGBC-IR and ToF (Laser AF) sensors were not working as they should.

The new firmware also includes the latest 1 November 2017 Android security patch. The new firmware is currently live across a number of regions – please post your impressions below once you have updated.

The new update is pushed OTA (over the air) worldwide, but it might take several days to reach all devices.
