The next season of “Big Brother” will stream exclusively on CBS All Access this fall. According to a source close to the show, the All Access season represents a new branch of the franchise. Additional new seasons will continue to air in summer on CBS broadcast.

Big BrotherCurrently in its 18th season, “Big Brother” has been a mainstay of the network’s summer schedule. Sunday’s episode drew a 1.7 live-plus-same day rating among adults 18-49, making it the night’s highest rated program. All Access is currently home to the “Big Brother” 24-7 live feed.

The move is part of a continuing effort by CBS to ramp up original programming efforts for its All Access streaming service. CBS has two original series slated to premiere on the service next year — “Star Trek: Discovery,” from executive producer Bryan Fuller, and an untitled spinoff of “The Good Wife,” from executive producers Robert and Michelle King.

In June, CBS named Julie McNamara was named executive vice president, original content for All Access, making her the service’s first original-programming chief.
