Netflix’s take on Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events has an end date in mind. Star and producer Neil Patrick Harris has confirmed speculation that the previously announced third season would be the show’s last. Sources note that a three-season plan was always what Netflix had in mind. (There’s been no official comment from the streaming service)

Harris, who stars as Count Olaf, the evil guardian of the Baudelaire orphans, Violet, Klaus and Sunny, on Thursday confirmed the three-season plan to TVGuide.com.

Season one covered the first four novels of the 13-book series, while season two is expected to cover five through nine, and the third and final run will cover the last four. Season two of the series is set to premiere March 30, with a return date for the final run yet to be determined. Season two was officially announced two months after the freshman run bowed on Netflix, with the early season three pickup coming shortly afterward.

Netflix continues to spend billions on scripted originals, most recently handing out two-season orders to Ryan Murphy’s Ratched and Riverdale spinoff Sabrina, among others.
