Netflix Is Doing an Animated Castlevania Series

Netflix is on the way to bring an old school video game series to the streaming service.

Gizmodo has reported that Konami’s Castlevania series, which has been long dormant since the Xbox 360/PlayStation 3 days, will be getting revived for some form of Netflix series this year.

The company held an event earlier amongst the products listed were the following:

This could be the project that’s been in development for some time by Frederator Networks (the same folks behind Adventure Time).  Producer Adi Shankar (of Dreddand The Grey fame) has revealed that he’s working on a Castlevania animated series for Netflix. He was the main force on a gritty unofficial Mighty Morphin Power Rangers short back in 2015.  Shankar started talked about Castlevania project a year ago on Facebook, with the message posted here.

In addition, comic book writer Warren Ellis is on board the project, and the series will focus on the last surviving member of the Belmont clan as they try to save Eastern Europe from Vlad Dracula Tepe. It’s rumored that the second part of season one is also in production, set to release in 2018. Details voice cast aren’t available yet.
