Motorola President Rick Osterloh to Leave Lenovo

Motorola LogoLenovo today said Rick Osterloh will leave the company amid an internal reorganization.

Osterloh has headed Motorola’s efforts within Lenovo since the Chinese firm acquired Motorola from Google in 2014.

The company is shifting its internal business groups. The PC unit will now include phablets, tablets, and PCs running Android, Chrome OS, and Windows. This unit will be led by Gianfranco Lanci, who is president and COO at Lenovo.

The rest of the mobile business, including Motorola- and Lenovo-branded smartphones, will be led by company presidents Xudong Chen and Aymar de Lencquesaing. Lenovo announced new branding efforts for its smartphones earlier this year.

The company is de-emphasizing the Motorola brand, shortening it to just Moto.

Neither Lenovo nor Osterloh specified the reasons behind his departure.
