Motorola Buys Aloqa to Help on Cell Interfaces

Posted by at 10:23 am on September 16, 2010

Motorola today bought Aloqa  to aid in their efforts  to improve its custom Motoblur interface for Android. The mobile app for iPhone, Android and other platforms will have its location awareness of events and other services rolled into Motorola’s own widgets. Motorola wouldn’t  disclose exact features, but expected to give local content to link “users and publishers.”

The two companies wouldn’t say how much had been paid for Aloqa.   The acquisition of intellectual property likely rules out further development of non-Android versions of Aloqa or even stand alone version which other Anroid makers phones could use..

The mobile group  will be spliting off from Motorola as  Motorola Mobility in early 2011.
