Microsoft Announces Timetables for WP7 NoDo Update

Microsoft has posted timetables to tell Windows Phone 7 owners when they should get the currently rolling NoDo update. The world timeline has most carriers and unlocked phones as either deployed or “scheduling,” which will have the update arriving in less than 10 days. In the American schedule, however, half of the phones, all from AT&T, are still in “testing” and don’t have schedules.

The T-Mobile HTC HD7 and Dell Venue Pro are both in scheduling, though, and the HTC Arrive has the unique distinction of being the first WP7 phone in the world to ship with the copy-and-paste text update already installed.

Microsoft’s timeframe now shows that WP7 owners may often get updates days or weeks later but also gives more information than Google or RIM, neither of whom can tell Android or BlackBerry users if or when they will get a release.

Microsoft not only standardizes the release to let it go through as little testing as possible but doesn’t let carriers decline Windows Phone 7 updates.
