Previously announced stars include Academy Award-nominated Harrison Ford and Academy Award-winner Ellen Burstyn. Principal photography will begin in March with Lionsgate set to release the film in the US.

“Michiel Huisman is one of the most exciting actors to watch on screen, and will be a perfect complement to our cast,” said Lakeshore’s Chairman and CEO, Tom Rosenberg. “We’re thrilled to have him in the role of Ellis.”

“Michiel Huisman is the rare breed of actor who radiates charm and sophistication while possessing a unique, enigmatic kind of vulnerability. He’s the perfect addition as Ellis and I couldn’t be more excited to have him join our cast,” said The Age of Adaline director Lee Toland Krieger.

Huisman recently appeared in World War Z and HBO’s “Treme,” and will next be seen in HBO’s “Game of Thrones,” BBC’s “Orphan Black” and in Fox Searchlight Picture’s Wild, opposite Reese Witherspoon.

The Age of Adaline follows the miraculous life of 29-year old Adaline, who stops aging after recovering from a near-fatal accident. Over the course of the 20th century she embarks on an epic, but isolated worldwide journey, keeping her secret, until she meets a man who forever alters her life.

The original screenplay was written by J. Mills Goodloe and Salvador Paskowitz, with revisions by Allison Burnett. The Age of Adaline will be produced by Sidney Kimmel, Tom Rosenberg, and Gary Lucchesi. Jim Tauber and Eric Reid will executive produce.
