Margot2Margot Robbie’s star continues to rise at Warner Bros. as TheWrap reports the studio’s acquisition of Dangerous Odds, the true-life story of Marisa Lankester, who from 1986 to 1994 helped Ron (‘The Cigar’) Sacco run illegal sports betting operation which eventually reached $1 billion a year, making it the largest bookmaking organization in the world.

Screenwriter Andrea Berloff (World Trade Center, Straight Outta Compton) is set to adapt Lankester’s memoir of the same name, which chronicles her role in the creation of the first offshore gambling empire, its ties to the mob, her rape at the hands of a Dominican general, imprisonment and eventual escape to Switzerland.

After capturing the public’s attention in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, Robbie has become a priority player at Warner Bros., co-starring with Will Smith in February’s Focus, as Jane in their big budget Tarzan remake, as well as landing the villainess Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad.
