Major Unannounced 3DS Games to Arrive Before March 2017

KimishimaNintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima says there are still major, unannounced Nintendo 3DS games in development that are planned to arrive by March 2017.

Last Tuesday, Nintendo held their Third Quarter Financial Results Briefing, where Nintendo boss Kimishima laid out the current financial state and various upcoming plans for the company. For example, we learned global Wii U hardware sales were up from last year during the same time, thanks to titles like Splatoon and Super Mario Maker, and that Nintendo’s second mobile app (after Miitomo) would be based on a “very well known” Nintendo property.

But today, Kimishima’s Q & A from last Wednesday was finally translated to the English language and posted to Nintendo’s website. And it seems owners of Nintendo 3DS systems have at least one big game to look forward to in the coming year or so.

“We have not yet announced all of the Nintendo 3DS software for the next fiscal year, but we are proceeding with development, including major titles,” Kimishima said. “The Nintendo 3DS will continue to be a major pillar of our business in the coming fiscal year.”

Kimishima did not specify the same details for Wii U, but did praise Splatoon and Super Mario Maker for their solid performances. While Kimishima also did not provide any new details about Nintendo NX, he did say “development and planning efforts” continue in preparation for its launch.

Lastly, Kimishima said Nintendo’s “expansion into smart device applications will depend on what kind of response we get from consumers.” He plans to continue marketing products targeted at young consumers and women.
