Louis C.K. has a new big screen project in the works as The Hollywood Reporter today brings word that the comedian will write, direct and star in a new comedy feature titled I’m a Cop. According to the outlet, the story will follow C.K. as a “a depressed middle-aged man who is a volunteer police officer living in the shadow of his mother, a highly-decorated retired officer. When she dies, her continued influence forces him to become a real police officer, which is something he never wanted to be.”

C.K. also serves as creative multihyphenate on his hit FX Networks series, Louie, which is currently airing its fifth season. He previously wrote and directed the 2001 big screen comedy Pootie Tang, although that experience infamously led to the film being taken away from C.K. in the editing room.

In addition to his acting work on “Louie,” C.K. has recently starred in films like Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine and David O. Russell’s American Hustle. Coming up, he’ll appear alongside Bryan Cranston in Jay Roach’s biopic Trumbo and will lend his voice to the animated project The Secret Life of Pets.

Scott Rudin will produce I’m a Cop alongside Dave Becky and Blair Breard.
