Kevin Feige Dishes On Endgame Marketing & The Return Of The X-Men Rights

Marvel Studios director Kevin Feige spoke to MTV News on the red carpet of the 75th Golden Globes last night.

The clip, which you can see below, he was asked about reports that all the upcoming trailers and TV spots for Avengers: Endgame won’t contain footage from outside its opening twenty minutes:

“I’d call it somewhat accurate. As was the case with a lot of our films, this one, in particular, being able to generate a lot of excitement without giving away one of the many, many, many secrets. I think the Disney marketing team is the best in the world and we’ll be able to pull it off.”

Feige also says the film’s title has long been in place, despite all the secrecy, and that’s why Doctor Strange says that line in the film:

“It was in place before we started developing the movie or just as we were developing it, yes,” Feige revealed on the red carpet of last night’s Golden Globes. “So, Doctor Strange says that line because we knew it was the title.”

Later this year the rights to the “X-Men” and “Fantastic Four” properties, which were at 20th Century Fox, will finally return to Marvel Studios after Disney finishes its purchase of Fox’s TV and film assets.

Feige in the past has said they’re taking a wait and see stance when it comes to developing the returned properties  from 20th Century Fox for the screen, but says he’s keen to get started and includes a shout out to some of the lesser-known characters:

“The truth is, I’m excited for all of them. I’m excited, and it’s not just the marquee names you know – there are hundreds of names on those documents, on those agreements. And the fact that Marvel is as close as we may ever get now to having access to all of the characters, is something I’ve been dreaming about for my almost twenty years at Marvel. And it’s very exciting.”

Avengers: Endgame will hit cinemas worldwide at the end of April.
