Actor and filmmaker John Krasinski’s almost silent horror film A Quiet Place has been one of the year’s biggest success stories with great reviews along with a $334.5 million worldwide box-office.

Speaking on Wednesday during a Q&A session at the Silver Screen Theatre in Los Angeles, The THR noted that Krasinski has confirmed he is writing the sequel after initially telling Paramount to get someone else for the gig.

Krasinski says he initially did not expect to be involved in the follow-up, telling his wife and co-star Emily Blunt he preferred to leave it as a special one-off experience they shared:

“That was my intention for the movie itself. Then I had this small idea for a sequel, but I didn’t think it would go anywhere. So, I said to the studio, ‘Just go do the movie with somebody else.’ They heard some pitches, and I told [producer] Drew [Form] about this little idea. And he told me to think about it a little longer. And then I thought, ‘This might really work.’ So, I’m currently writing the sequel.”

Bryan Woods and Scott Beck penned the original script for the film but once Krasinski came onboard he performed a rewrite which included changing how the film opened – turning the incident with the youngest child into the opening of the film as opposed to something that took place in flashbacks later on.

A Quiet Place 2 is set to open May 15th 2020
