jack-hustonMany talented people have come and gone over the years on a long-gestating reboot of The Crow, Most recently, the formerly attached Luke Evans announced that he had officially vacated the title role.

Now, Deadline has word of a new name that may be in line to take on the role of James O’Barr’s dark comic book antihero. According to the outlet, that name is none other than Jack Huston, the star of MGM and Paramount Pictures’ upcoming Ben-Hur remake.

“The Crow” was originally published as a four issue miniseries in 1989 and was later adapted into a film version by director Alex Proyas. The 1994 film starred Brandon Lee as protagonist Eric Draven. Tragically, Lee died in an accident during production, however the role was recast for several sequels and even a short-lived television series. In the comics, too, O’Barr’s character has been sequelized in quite a few different stories and formats.

Music video helmer Corin Hardy (The Hallow) is still attached to direct The Crow, which features a script by Cliff Dorfman. O’Barr is also set to work as a creative consultant on the film. No release date has, as of yet, been announced, although it is suspected that filming is going to commence later this year.
