Intel Corporation today announced an addition to the Intel Solid-State Drive (SSD) Professional Family: the Intel SSD Pro 2500 Series. This new business-class SSD for secure enterprise use has been designed to deliver users enhanced security and manageability features over its predecessors.

The Intel Pro 2500 Series SSDs are self-encrypting drives utilizing hardware-based 256-bit encryption to protect data without a loss of performance. Additionally, the new Intel drives feature the Trusted Computing Group’s OPAL 2.0 standard and are Microsoft eDrive capable. Intel’s new drives can be managed remotely allowing IT to monitor and report drive health as well as track assets and remedy faults.

The new drives come with Intel’s SSD Pro Administrator toolset, which allows remote configuration of the drives as well as monitoring of hardware health. The Pro Administrator tool was also available on the Pro 1500 series SSDs.

All of the drives in the line feature sequential read speeds up to 540Mbps, with write speeds approaching 490Mbps. Random 4KB speeds perform up to 80,000 write operations per second on most of the drives in the line.

The Intel SSD Pro 2500 Series will be available in both 2.5-inch and M.2 form factors and in capacities ranging from 120GB to 480GB. The Intel SSD Pro 2500 Series is backed by a 5-year limited warranty and features an annualized failure rate well below 1 percent. Pricing is not yet available.
