Instagram Removes 24 Hour Photo Rule for Stories

Posted by at 7:46 am on November 8, 2017

Instagram announced people will now be able to add older photos to their ephemeral stories.

Before the update, only photos captured within the previous 24 hours could be added to stories. Now, Instagram said people will be able to take any picture from their camera roll and add it to a story. The tool will automatically call up a sticker so users can provide details on when and where the photo was taken.

Instagram said users can rotate, resize, or remove the date sticker if so desired. Stories themselves still disappear after 24 hours. The expanded camera roll access for stories is hitting the latest Instagram mobile app for Android and iOS. It will be available for download soon.
