Hyatt Announces Breach in Payments Systems

Posted by at 12:14 pm on October 16, 2017

The Hyatt hotel chain just disclosed that its payment systems were breached.

The breach comes less than two years after Hyatt announced a similar intrusion in late 2015. This time, the hotel chain discovered malware on its systems that allowed hackers to access information from payment cards used at the front desk of 41 of its locations around the world between March 18 and July 2, 2017. The hackers made away with cardholder names, card numbers, expiration dates, and internal verification codes.

Hyatt recommended users closely review their payment card account statements and report any unauthorized charges to their banks right away. For more, see Hyatt’s FAQ about the breach
