Last Man on EarthHulu has acquired the subscription video on demand rights to the post-apocalyptic comedy “The Last Man On Earth,” making the digital provider the online home of another popular Fox series.

“Hulu subscribers have been huge fans of ‘The Last Man On Earth’ since its premiere,” Craig Erwich, Hulu’s senior VP and head of content, said of the Emmy-nominated comedy that returned for its second season on Sunday. “Now, we want to give them the gift to watch all episodes of this creative, fun series.”

All episodes of “The Last Man On Earth” will be available to stream on Hulu with limited commercials for $7.99 per month, or with no commercials for $11.99 per month.

The deal further strengthens Hulu’s relationship with 20th Century Fox Television, which produces the series created, written by and starring Will Forte as (potentially) the only male survivor of a deadly virus attack. In March, it acquired SVOD rights to the Fox hit “Empire.” (Hulu is also now the home of Universal Television’s “Mindy Project,” which previously aired on Fox).

“In the post-apocalyptic world of ‘The Last Man On Earth,’ all [Forte’s] Phil Miller wanted was for someone — anyone — to find him,” said Gina Brogi, Twentieth Century Fox’s exec VP of worldwide pay TV & SVOD. “We now know Phil is not alone — he has millions of viewers following his journeys, including Hulu’s appreciative and growing fan base who can now binge on prior seasons of Fox’s hit series.”
