HP Rolls into CES with a New 23-Inch Notebook Docking LCD, Two Budget Displays

HP rounded out its CES introductions with a trio of Compaq displays. The 23-inch L2311c Notebook Docking Monitor uses USB 3.0 or 2.0 to feed both the display, Ethernet, a webcam, and four USB ports through one cable, whether it’s a Windows PC or not. A separate power connection can charge any HP-made notebook that uses up to 90W of power.

The L2311c musters a 1080p picture on a budget TN (twisted nematic) LCD panel that gets a 1,000:1 static contrast ratio and 250cd/m2 brightness. It should arrive in February for $319.

More conventional uses will get the very low-cost LV1911 and LV2011 displays. The 18.5- and 20-inch screens keep costs low by using 1366×768 and 1600×900 TN-based LCDs and VGA-only input. Either has just a 600:1 static contrast ratio, but aggressive LED backlighting pushes them up to a claimed 3,000,000:1 dynamic ratio.

HP ships the LV2011 first in February for $135. LV1911 displays don’t arrive until March and will cost just $10 less.
