Netflix’s House of Cards series returns today. No longer an escapist political show, the show now hist a little too close to today’s political drama in the white house.
Robin Wright, who plays first lady and vice-presidential candidate Claire Underwood, joked at Cannes recently that “Trump has stolen all of our ideas for season 6.”
The original showrunner, Beau Willimon, left at the end of last season. The new showrunners, Frank Pugliese and Melissa James Gibson, joined the series in its third season as senior writers.
The core of the show is still the relationship between Frank and Claire and season five does not lose focus on it.
Season 5 of House of Cards is now streaming on Netflix.
