Himōto! Umaru-chanThe July 16 issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Young Jump magazine has announced that Sankaku Head’s Himōto! Umaru-chan manga is inspiring a PlayStation Vita game this winter. The “himōto-raising simulation” game Himōto! Umaru-chan: Himōto Ikusei Keikaku (The Himōto Raising Project) will cost 6,480 yen (about US$53) for the regular edition or 9,980 yen (US$82) for the limited edition.

The limited edition will include an exclusive booklet with new art by Sankaku Head, a drama CD, a bath poster, a product code for an original idol costume, four interchangeable package jacket art, and a box to hold everything. People who pre-order the game will receive a product code for another original costume, “swimsuit Santa.”

The manga centers around Taihei Doma and his little sister Umaru, who boasts beautiful looks as well as prowess in both school and sports. However, she has a certain secret. Everyone may think she is the ideal girl, but she is anything but. “Himōto” is a pun on “imōto” (little sister) and “himono,” which means “dried fish,” but in slang can refer to a woman who is proper in public but lazy at home.

The manga is also inspiring a television anime. The television series will premiere on ABC on July 8 at 26:14 (effectively July 9 at 2:14 a.m.). The show will then also premiere on Tokyo MX TV, AT-X, and BS-11 on July 12. The manga’s seventh volume will bundle an original video anime on October 19.

Sankaku Head launched the manga in Weekly Young Jump in 2013 (after running an earlier two-chapter Himōto! Umaru-chan! version in Miracle Jump in 2012), and Shueisha is publishing the sixth compiled volume in June.
