Android-device owning wielders of the Wi-Fi connected GoPro Hero point-of-view cameras can now enjoy the same benefits as their iOS device-toting counterparts, as GoPro has launched anĀ  free Android App. Through the app, users can control their HD Hero 2 cameras equipped with the optional Wi-Fi BacPac only at this point. It’s not compatible with the original HD Hero while the new Hero3: Black Edition will get support in December while the Hero 3 White and Silver will be supported later in November.

Through the app, users will not only be capable of framing their shots remotely and from their Android device, but also control the camera’s settings such as resolution and frame rates, time-lapse setting, orientation, and other more advanced settings.

The app also has shortcuts to the Video of the Day and Photo of the Day from the GoPro community that are shared online.

Finally, GoPro suggests the best performance of the app will be on Android 4.0 or newer devices.
