Google’s Datally App Helps Android Users Manage Monthly Data

Google today announced Datally, a new app meant to help mobile device owners manage their data usage thanks to fine-tuned controls.

The app lets people view their data usage on an hourly, daily, weekly, or monthly basis. The app will analyze usage over time and deliver personalized recommendations on how to save data. A built-in Data Saver tool automatically turns off background data usage for all apps and provides instant insight on data usage while people use their apps.

Datally will scan for public wifi hotspots, too, and help people connect in order to avoid using the mobile network. Google has been testing Datally in the Philippines for several months and says many people have been able to reel in data usage by 30% each month when using the app.

Datally is available for free from the Play Store. It runs on devices with Android 5.1 Lollipop and up.
