Google Play Books for iOS Updated – Gains Notes, Bookmarks, Highlights

Posted by at 10:37 am on April 18, 2012

Google has released a major update of the Google Play Books iOS app, v1.3.0. One addition is the ability to add bookmarks by tapping the top-right corner. Selecting text meanwhile gives users several new options, such as colored highlights, private notes, or translating text into over 50 languages.

The gesture also lets readers look up the definition of a word, or run Google, Wikipedia, or in-book searches. A +1 button can meanwhile be used to draw attention to favorite books, and on the iPhone or iPod touch, libraries can be viewed in either grids or lists. Notes and highlights are synced with the Google Play web reader as well as other iOS hardware.

The Google Play Books app is a free download, and works with any device running iOS 4 or later.
