Google Music Adds Scan-and-Match Feature

Google today announced that its Google Music service now offers the scan-and-match feature to U.S. users. The feature, which launched across Europe last month, scans Google Music users’ PC-bound music libraries and instantly matches any songs in the library with those it offers in the Google Play Store. The effect is that Google will not need to upload any songs that it already owns. Google Music allows users to upload up to 20,000 songs, which can then be streamed back at 320Kbps on up to 10 different devices for free.

Google Music is available on Android smartphones and tablets, as well as from PC browsers.
