Google today unleashed a slew of new features for its social networking project, Google+, Beginning today, Google is rolling out new versions of both its Android and iOS Google+ apps, bringing Google+ Communities to the apps, as well as the ability to edit profiles and indicate how many guests one will bring to an event. Users can also add animated images to events in posts and, if they have a device running Android 4.2 or above, they can create Photo Sphere images, while users running Android 3.0 or above can view and explore Photo Sphere images.

The Android version of the app now comes with 5GB of free storage for full-size backups of photos in addition to the standard-size option, which gives unlimited storage at 2048px. To take advantage of that feature, users will have to turn on Instant Upload, which will save photos automatically to a private album on Google+

The update also brings changes to the Events system and the Hangouts system. The Hangouts element has been modified to use less bandwidth, making it possible to join a hangout using only 150KB of bandwidth. Google has also made it easier to plan multiple parties through the Events system, allowing users to duplicate events with automatic information filling.
