Garmin Announces Forerummer 910XT – Measures Swim, Run, Bike Metrics

Garmin just introduced the Forerunner 910XT multisport watch. The higher-end tracker has a built-in GPS sensor and provides detailed swim metrics as well as distance, speed, pace, elevation, and heart rate for running and cycling. It is waterproof up to 50 meters deep (164 feet). The barometric altimeter also provides more accurate elevation data.

The watch is optimized for watersports and will count swimming strokes, pool lengths, or distance. It will also measure a swimmer’s swolf score, or swimming efficiency. The lower the number the better, and it’s measured by adding the length of time in seconds it takes to cross a pool length and the number of strokes it took to cross that length.

The watch can quickly be moved onto a handlebar when used on a bicycle through an optional quick release and mount. The watch offers as much as 20 hours of battery life.

A vibration motor responds to alerts for certain conditions such as atarget heart rate, pace, and distance when audible tones can’t be heard. A heart monitor is included in some bundles or available on its own. The Virtual Racer feature lets users race against themselves using their previous best saved times or those of others. The watch can sync over wireless using ANT+ technology.

The watch is now available for $400.
