Fujifilm X10 Coming in Early November for $600

Now has a ship date and price for the X10. Its semi-pro contract first shown last month will be on shelves in early November. It should cost $600, at the level of entry DSLRs and mirrorless interchangeables but at half the price of the flagship X100.

The design is just the second in the X series and the first to have zoom, with a non-removable, 28-112mm equivalent lens that uses barrel-mounted control for zoom. Although it uses a smaller 2/3-inch sensor versus the full DSLR-grade (APS-C) sensor from the X100, it can shoot faster, at up to seven frames per second at maximum resolution. Video also gets an upgrade with 1080p recording, and the EXR-based 12-megapixel sensor can use pixel binning to boost the light sensitivity up to ISO 12,800 by reducing the resolution of the shot.

Other controls reflect lessons learned from the X100, such as an optical viewfinder (though without the digital overlay) and built-in pop-up flash with a hot shoe for further add-ons. Control is still all physical and prioritizes features for experienced shooters, like exposure compensation and autoexposure or autofocus lock.
