iPad app developer Flipboard has signed a deal with the Oprah Winfrey Network. Under the agreement, the new TV network is being given dedicated space on the Flipboard homepage. There the company is promising sneak peeks, exclusives from the final season of the Oprah Winfrey Show, and gathered content such as Oprah.com articles and posts from Oprah’s Twitter feed.
The deal is the first of its kind for Flipboard, even though the company’s free self-titled app has long been a flagship iPad release, regularly promoted by Apple itself. Flipboard has allegedly been valued at $200 million in recent attempts at getting new venture funding, even though it has until now had no source of revenue. The app scrapes content from selected RSS feeds and social networks and puts it into a more attractive and convenient magazine format.
