Flipboard 1.5 Update – No Feed Limits, Content Guide

Posted by at 10:54 am on June 30, 2011

The developer of Flipboard has released a major update of the iPad app, v1.5. Three main changes have been made, including support for an infinite number of feeds, the old limit being 21. A new Content Guide makes it easier to find material by sorting through favorites and sections, as well as by searching for people, publications, sites or topics. One focus of the Guide is on Pulse-like curated streams, featuring publications like The New Yorker and National Geographic.

Use of the app has been streamlined, with faster flipping, single taps to jump into an article and the ability to flip between pieces without going up a level in the interface. Likewise social interactions have been moved to the bottoms of pages, and popular stories are highlighted when looking for interesting reading. Any section can be marked as a Favorite, in keeping with the infinite feed compatibility.

Another addition is support for the work-oriented social network LinkedIn. Aside from offering contact updates, industry news is presented via LinkedIn Today. Flipboard is a free download from the App Store.
