First Detroit Spot

Annapurna Pictures has released the first TV spot for Detroit from the Academy Award-winning director Kathryn Bigelow (The Hurt LockerZero Dark Thirty).  Detroit tells the powerful story from the civil unrest that rocked Detroit in the summer of ’67.

Directed by Kathryn Bigelow, Detroit offers a crime drama set against the backdrop of Detroit’s 1967 riots, a gripping story of one of the darkest moments during the civil unrest that rocked Detroit during that summer. The August 4 release date will coincide with the 50th anniversary of the riots.

The film stars an ensemble cast comprised of John Boyega, Will Poulter, Algee Smith, Jacob Latimore, Jason Mitchell, Hannah Murray, Kaitlyn Dever, Jack Reynor, Ben O’Toole, Joseph David Jones, Ephraim Sykes, Leon Thomas III, Nathan Davis Jr., Peyton Alex Smith, Malcolm David Kelley, Gbenga Akinnabve, Chris Chalk, Jeremy Strong, Laz Alonzo, Austin Hebert, Miguel Pimentel, Kris Davis, with John Krasinski and Anthony Mackie.

Detroit is the second feature collaboration between Annapurna and Kathryn Bigelow, the first being Zero Dark Thirty. Bigelow is producing the film with Annapurna’s Megan Ellison and Matthew Budman. Mark Boal, who wrote the script.
