Mozilla has released Firefox 24, an update of its web browser for Windows, OS X, Linux, and Android. The desktop apps have gained a “Close Tabs to the Right” option, found within the contextual menu when right-clicking on a tab. The Mac app uses a new scrollbar style, and people using Firefox’s social features can tear off chat windows.

The Android app now has WebRTC on by default, letting users engage in audio/video calls and other kinds of peer-to-peer data exchanges. A new NFC sharing options lets people with both Firefox and an NFC-equipped phone “bump” their devices together to exchange tabs. A separate “quicksharing” feature makes it easier to send items to Twitter, Facebook, SMS, or email, and Reader has gained several improvements, such as font selection and day/night modes.

All versions of Firefox are a free download. Firefox 25 is already slated to arrive in October.
