The CW Network presented its 2012-13 broadcast schedule today to advertisers, affiliates and national media at the New York City Center in New York City. Hip-hop star Flo Rida opened the show with a medley of his top hits, featuring the world premiere of his newest song, “Let it Roll (Good Times).”

“One of our biggest priorities this year at The CW was adding more original programming, and we’ve added 50 original hours to our schedule in 2012,” said Mark Pedowitz, President, The CW. “With dynamic new dramas for the fall and midseason, and our first-ever summer schedule leading into our October fall launch, this is poised to be a transformative season for The CW.

“The dramas we have for next season are outstanding, with relatable characters and breakout stars. ‘Arrow,’ starring Stephen Amell in the title role, is a bold, edge-of-your-seat action show, based on the popular DC Comics character; ‘Emily Owens, M.D.’ is funny, emotional, and we have caught lightning in a bottle with an incredible lead actor in Mamie Gummer; ‘Beauty and the Beast’ takes a classic love story and adds a procedural element; ‘The Carrie Diaries,’ with the story of a young Carrie Bradshaw set in the 1980s, is perfect for our audience; and ‘Cult’ is a chilling psychological thriller. We have an unbelievable variety of high quality dramas, all speaking to the 18-to-34-year old audience, set for next season.”
The CW will plan to strategically rollout its new fall season starting in early October 2012. Specific dates to be announced at a later time.

On Monday nights, the most famous zip code in America, 90210, returns at 8:00-9:00 p.m., and GOSSIP GIRL will wrap up its six-season run of OMFG drama at 9:00-10:00 p.m. In January, new series THE CARRIE DIARIES, starring AnnaSophia Robb as the incomparable and iconic Carrie Bradshaw growing up in the 1980s, will follow in GOSSIP GIRL’s stylish heels at 9:00-10:00 p.m.

Tuesdays The CW will play doctor, with HART OF DIXIE, starring Rachel Bilson, bringing its dose of Southern hospitality to 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by new medical drama EMILY OWENS, M.D. from 9:00-10:00 p.m., starring Mamie Gummer as a surgical intern who discovers, much to her dismay, that working in a hospital feels an awful lot like high school.
The CW gives Wednesday a double dose of high-octane action, with new series ARROW, starring Stephen Amell as the popular DC Comics character, at 8:00-9:00 p.m., followed by this year’s People’s Choice Award-winner for Best Network Drama, SUPERNATURAL, 9:00-10:00 p.m.

Thursday nights The CW’s bloody-good drama THE VAMPIRE DIARIES is back for more heart-stopping thrills and romance, followed by new series BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, starring Kristin Kreuk as a homicide detective and Jay Ryan as a doctor with a dark side… a really dark side.

AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL is returning with new talent and a new judge – the viewer. Cycle 19 of the show will offer an interactive experience where, for the first time in AMERICA’S NEXT TOP MODEL history, the public will be able to have a say in who stays and who goes in the competition. Beginning on May 24, fans will have two opportunities each week to vote online at www.cwtv.com and choose their favorite contestants based on photo shoots taken during production. These scores will be used by Tyra Banks and the judges to help determine who is eliminated each week. Viewers will also have the opportunity to have their comments and video messages featured in the show when the cycle airs in the fall. In addition to Banks and returning judge, fashion pr maven Kelly Cutrone, international male model Rob Evans will join the judging panel as the third permanent judge. Johnny Wujek, stylist to the stars, including singer Katy Perry, rounds out the group as the new creative consultant, who will guide the models through their photo shoots. Cycle 19 is also the first-ever college edition, inspired by Banks’ recent graduation from Harvard Business School, and will include students from all across the educational spectrum, from four-year colleges and universities to beauty school students. These women from all walks of life, all parts of the nation, and all types of continuing education, will be invited to show their school spirit — and their modeling chops— to Tyra and the judges. Investigative journalist Jeff Sefton has learned to laugh off his brother Nate’s relentless string of obsessions, especially his latest rant that a hit TV show intends to harm him. However, when his brother mysteriously disappears, Jeff takes Nate’s paranoia seriously, and in the process uncovers the dark underworld of the TV show “Cult” and its rabid fans. The hardcore fans of “Cult” would kill to see what happens next… The series stars Matt Davis (“The Vampire Diaries”) as Jeff Sefton, Jessica Lucas (“Melrose Place,” “Cloverfield”) as Skye Yarrow, Alona Tal (“Supernatural,” “The Killing”) as Kelly Collins and Robert Knepper (“Prison Break,” “Shameless”) as Billy Grimm. CULT is from Fake Empire and Rockne S. O’Bannon Television in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios, with executive producers Rockne S. O’Bannon (“Farscape,” “V”), Josh Schwartz (“Chuck,” “Gossip Girl”), Stephanie Savage (“Hart of Dixie,” “Gossip Girl”), Len Goldstein (“Hart of Dixie”) and Jason Ensler (“Franklin & Bash,” “Hart of Dixie”). The pilot was directed by Jason Ensler and written by Rockne S. O’Bannon.

The script and details of the film’s story are being kept tightly under wraps. The studio says the remaining cast will be announced shortly with some big names expected to fill the roles of Sin City’s newest characters yet to be seen in theaters.

The original Sin City broke new ground with its iconic stylish look and grossed over $160 million worldwide. Frank Miller’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For will not only bring fans back to the world that Rodriguez and Miller created, but will also add a new dimension by bringing their unique visual style to life in 3D.

The film will be released by Dimension Films in the US and Canada, and produced by Quick Draw Productions, AR Films, Miramax and Solipsist.

Aldamisa International’s C.O.O. Jere Hausfater and President of International Sales and Distribution Nadine de Barros and will oversee international sales for this project at the Cannes Film Festival.

The film is expected to begin production this summer at Robert Rodriguez’s Troublemaker Studios in Austin, Texas.

There are DisplayPort, DVI, VGA, and USB connections for flexibility and two speakers are built-in. The display’s arm can be adjusted for height over a range of four inches, and allows the display to swivel 35 degrees from left to right and tilted from -5 to 15 degrees. It can also rotate for a portrait orientation.

The screen is now shipping, priced at $330.

The two-bay storage case runs the Lacie NAS OS 2 operating system on an ARM 2GHz processor. The NAS OS 2 provides backup services, email notification of failures, and a print server.

If used for media storage and playback, the 2big NAS can act as an home iTunes server, and is uPnP AV media player compatible. Photo browsing and audio streaming are available through a web interface.

Each drive bay in the 2big NAS accepts a full-size 3.5-inch hard drive, up to 3TB in size for a maximum storage capacity of 6TB. If desired, the drives can be formatted for RAID 1 mirroring. Each drive installed is hot-swappable, so a failed disk can be replaced with no service interruption.

Network connection is provided by a single gigabit Ethernet port. Two expansion ports to increase the capacity of the 2big NAS are available- one eSATA, and one USB2 port.

The cross-platform storage device is available at retail and online now. A driveless enclosure costs $299 and the 6TB model populated with two 3TB drives can be purchased for $649.

The service will cost $10 per month to Triple Play customers, and an included hardware bundle supplies a camera, Skype adapter, and a Skype-enabled remote control with a keyboard on the back. Other Skype users do not need the service in order to receive calls.

By the end of this week, Atlanta and Augusta, GA; Chicago, IL; Detroit, MI; Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, PA; Indianapolis, IN; and Miami, FL will have access to the service, with other regions due to get it in the Summer.

The CW has released the first promo clip for “Arrow,” which will air this fall on Wednesdays at 8:00-9:00 p.m. The show is described as follows:

Robin, Ron Shelton, Greer Shephard, Don Todd and Dick Wolf.

“At TNT, we’re expanding our programming horizons with new forms and new genres – like we did last year with Falling Skies – and we’re reaching out to new audiences,” explained Michael Wright, president, head of programming for TNT, TBS and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). “Whatever the form or genre, we’re using what we call the ‘popcorn mindset’ as the guiding principle behind all our development. TNT has nine original series on tap this summer, more than any other time in the network’s history. Among the new series joining the network are the eagerly anticipated Dallas and TNT’s first-ever reality-competition show, The Great Escape. TNT is also building its originals slate with the recently greenlit medical drama Monday Mornings and the unscripted series Boston Blue (working title) and 72 Hours (working title).

TBS’s slate of original programming is being developed with two types of comedy lovers in mind. “The Big Bang Theory gives us an ideal foundation from which to launch original series that target our audience of ‘comedy relatables,’ who like comedy that reminds them of their own lives, while Family Guy is one of our anchors for ‘comedy rebels,’ who enjoy more irreverent, provocative comedy,” Wright said.

For the comedy relatables, TBS is premiering two new sitcoms this summer, each of which will be paired in the lineup with The Big Bang Theory. Next week, TBS will premiere Men at Work, followed in July by the launch of Sullivan & Son. Later this year, TBS will also debut the scripted comedy series Wedding Band, followed in early 2013 by the premiere of Cougar Town, now a TBS original series. For the comedy rebels, TBS’s slate includes shows like the competition series King of the Nerds (working title) and the newly greenlit Deon Cole’s Black Box and Who Gets the Last Laugh? (working title).

Add a fourth company to the group contributing to Project X Zone – Nintendo. At least, it’s a Nintendo-owned developer creating the 3DS Capcom/Namco/Sega crossover SRPG. Monolith Soft, most recently known for Xenoblade Chronicles, is developing the new game, Famitsu has revealed (via Andriasang).

It makes sense given Monolith’s history – it developed Namco X Capcom, a similar crossover game for PS2

Square Enix has announced the Mark of Mastery Edition for the North American launch of KINGDOM HEARTS 3D [Dream Drop Distance]. Scheduled for release on July 31 for the Nintendo 3DS system, the box set will be available for $54.99.

The newly announced special edition comes with a clear 3DS case and a set of art cards that look like they can be slipped into said case, and five AR cards to unlock in-game Dream Eaters. All of this comes in a big box with a magnetic clasp.

This edition shows one of the advantages of portable games: the limited edition boxes don’t cost quite as much as those for console games.

The dual-core CPU will run at a slower speed, however, rated at 1.2GHz versus 1.5GHz. RAM has been pared down to 768MB from the M1′s 1GB. Like its big brother, the Youth Edition will run on a heavily customized Android OS overlaid by Xiaomi’s MIUI interface.

The Chinese company committed to producing 150,000 examples of the phone, with the company starting a pre-registration page that will let users sign up until May 18. If the success of the Mi One was any indication, the phones will sell out quick. The last batch of 150,000 sold out in under 13 minutes.

The system even syncs the recent tab history to ensure that the back and forward buttons navigate to the correct content on any device. The synced tabs can be accessed from an “Other devices” menu on the New Tab page, and requires users to sign in for security.

The sign-in feature also syncs traditional content such as bookmarks, apps, extensions, themes and other settings.

Google notes that subsequent stable builds will be released over the next few days for all supported platforms, however the tab sync feature will slowly roll out across several weeks.

Summer had been living in Englewood, Fla., with her husband Bruce Sudano.

TMZ first reported the news, noting Summer had died in Florida on Thursday after a long battle with cancer. Insiders told TMZ she was recently working on music for a new album.

Known as the “Queen of Disco,” Summer was born LaDonna Adrian Gaines in Boston, Mass., in 1948, as one of seven children. She was raised on Gospel music

The five-time Grammy winner rose to fame in the 1970s, scoring hits with “Last Dance,” “Hot Stuff” and “Bad Girls.” She co-wrote the single “Love to Love You Baby” in 1975, and went on to co-write several other hits, including “She Works Hard For Her Money.”

“Love to Love You Baby” was her U.S. chart debut and the first of 19 No. 1 dance hits between 1975 and 2008 – second only to Madonna.

A statement released by Ms. Summer’s family said, “While we grieve her passing, we are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.”

She is survived by her husband, three daughters and four grandchildren.

All the vulnerabilities fixed in v7.7.2 can affect Windows systems running XP SP2 and later, including Vista and Windows 7. Most were invoked by visiting a malicously-crafted website or viewing a maliciously-crafted movie file, which could lead to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution. Bugs were found in QuickTime’s handling of TeXML files, text tracks, H.264 encoded movies, uninitialized memory access issues, rdrf atoms and more.

Five of the errors fixed in 7.7.2 were already addressed in Snow Leopard’s Security Update 2012-001 and in OS X 10.7.3 for Lion. Six of the errors do not affect Macs at all, and a further one dealing with a use-after-free issue in the handling of JPEG2000-encoded movie files was address in OS X 10.7.4 and does not affect older systems. A final five errors do not list any OS X references, leaving it unclear if they aren’t relevant to Mac systems or will soon be addresses with a Mac-specific QuickTime 7 fix. The details of the fixes will eventually be posted to Apple’s security technote.

The R6300 packs four gigabit Ethernet ports, a pair of USB ports for network-attached storage and print server purposes, and the 802.11ac dual-band gigabit radio at its core. With 802.11ac it is claimed to transfer at 1300 Mbps, dropping down to 450Mbps for 802.11n and maintaining further compatibility for 802.11a, b, and g standards. The newly announced R6200 router boasts similar features, however the theoretical peak speeds drop to 900Mbps over 802.11ac or 300Mbps over 802.11n.

Both routers support remote control through Netgear Genie apps for the desktop, iOS or Android devices, along with MyMedia remote-media playback, AirPrint, parental controls, and a DNLA-ready media server.

The A6200 USB Wi-Fi adapter also uses 802.11ac with the same backwards-compatibility as the routers. With a claimed speed of up to 867Mbps, the dongle also comes with a desktop dock for those not wishing to use the swiveling antenna design on a notebook.

The R6200 and A6200 are expected out in the third quarter of this year for $180 and $80 respectively. The R6300 router is on sale for around $200.

Telltale Games’ game based on the The Walking Dead has been well-received by gamers. The first episode of the adventure series, “A New Day,” has sold one million copies on the PC, Mac, Xbox 360 and PS3.

Episode One of the Walking Dead was the best-selling game on Xbox Live Arcade for two weeks. It topped the sales charts for both PSN and Steam for a week as well. Telltale says that this is their first-selling game ever. Their sales figures don’t include iOS sales. Telltale intends to release the first episode for the iOS version sometime this summer.

“A New Day” introduces us to Lee Everett, a man convicted of murder. Everett unexpectedly regains his freedom as a zombie outbreak sweeps across the world. He links up with other survivors and tries to find safety from “the walkers.” In his journey, he’ll travel to locations seen in other Walking Dead works and meet with established characters. Expect plenty of new faces and locations as well.

Publisher 2K announced details of a pair of collector’s editions of the game, launching on September 18 for PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

The Deluxe Vault Hunter’s Collector’s Edition includes a Marcus Kincaid bobblehead, digital comic, a hardbound art book, map of Pandora and extra downloadable content. It will sell for $99.99.

There’s also an Ultimate Loot Chest Limited Edition, highlighted by a collectible replica of the red chests players discover in the game. Among some of the other items: a steel case, lithograph postcard set and a creatures of Pandora ID chart. It will go for $149.99.

Players who pre-order the game will gain access to several perks, including a gun pack and a fifth character class called the Mechromancer. The class will be available to all players for purchase at a later date.

Borderlands 2 follows four new treasure hunters as they try to save the planet Pandora from the Hyperion Corporation and its CEO, Handsome Jack.

THQ chief Brian Farrell revealed in an investor call earlier this week the game would release August 14, says a report from Joystiq.

The game follows Death as he battles to rewrite decisions made by fellow Four Horseman War, who kicks off the apocalypse early through events from the first Darksiders title.

Darksiders II will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Aside from being ambidextrous, the QF20 is a 1080p HD video camera with a 2.7-inch touch screen. Wi-Fi connectivity allows the device to post video to Facebook, YouTube and Picasa. A smart BGM function adds background music and basic editing to clips without exporting to a computer, and Art Time Lapse lets it be used for passage-of-time shots.

The W300, billed as a rugged pocket camcorder, shooting 1080p video and previewing on its 2.3-inch screen. The main selling point is its toughness, claiming to be waterproof at up to 15 feet for 30 minutes, dustproof and capable of taking drops of up to six feet onto solid ground.

Both camcorders are on sale now, with the QF20 retailing for $350, and the W300 pocket camcorder for around $160.

The X230 ultraportable focuses on travel, reaching a claimed 24 hours of battery life and utilizing a 12.5-inch display with 300-nit brightness. The X230t brings many of the same features, but as a convertible tablet that quickly switches to a tablet computer for touchscreen input.

The T series has been expanded with the 14-inch T430 and T430s, which are claimed to be configurable for up to 32.5 hours of battery life, while the T530 upgrades to a 15-inch HD display. All models in the series feature 4G connectivity, RapidCharge tech for fast boot times, and USB 3.0 ports.

The W530 also brings a 15-inch HD display, with a built-in color calibrator and support for up to four external displays. The L430 and L530 are entry-level ThinkPad models, bringing thinner builds than earlier models.

The X230 and X230T range in price between $1179 and $1479, while the T430 and T430s can be purchased for $879 or $1399, respectively, and the L-series models start at $879. The W530 workstation models jump to $1529 for a basic configuration. All models are expected to arrive early next month.

In a further plus, Lenovo has also equipped its flagship ultrabook with a high-resolution 1600×900 display, instead of what has typically been the standard resolution in the class of 1366×768 pixels. Its display bezel is noticeably thin, helping to give the 14-inch ultrabook a footprint not much greater than a typical 13-inch notebook.

Another highlight is the incorporation of Lenovo’s Rapid Charge function that boosts a flat battery to an 80 percent charge in just 30 minutues. Its keyboard includes backlighting and also offers Lenovo’s eraserhead pointer and full trackpad. Also included is a Mini DisplayPort as well as two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, an SD card slot and a fingerprint reader. Road warriors will also be pleased that the option of 3G connectivity is available.

Lenovo did not revealed the pricing of the ThinkPad X1 Carbon on its launch, but said these details will be forthcoming ahead of its availability which is expected in the next two months.

The ICS update should bring considerable performance improvements to the two smartphones. In addition to general optimizations throughout the OS, Android 4.0 is the first Google smartphone OS to properly support multi-core devices. Users will also experience Android Beam, Face Unlock and a range of camera app enhancements. A mandatory charge of $15 per month will apply for the newly enabled mobile hotspot function, although users can decline the update if they don’t want to incur the additional fee.

The news follows a statement issued by Samsung that its current range of T-Mobile-branded Samsung products will also be getting ICS updates shortly. On the list to get updates include the Galaxy S II, the Galaxy S Blaze 4G, the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus and the Galaxy Tab 10.1.

The ITC ruling determined that the messaging and browser apps in Android violated Apple’s patents on clickable objects like phone numbers and emails. The ban was affirmed on December 19, 2011 and enforcement started on April 19.

HTC stated in December that they had a plan to make their phones compliant with the terms of the injunction. US Customs is now investigating the phones to be sure that they do not violate Apple’s patent. No timetable for customs release has been announced.

The HTC One X has already been released by AT&T and stocks are reported to be running low both online and at retail. The HTC Evo 4G LTE is scheduled to be released by Sprint on May 18.

Sorkin has past experience in adapting the lives of tech CEOs to the screen. He previously did the screenplay for 2010′s The Social Network, based on Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg. In turn based on Ben Mezrich’s 2009 book The Accidental Billionaires, the movie netted Sorkin the Oscar for Best Writing for an Adapted Screenplay.

Sony’s Jobs biopic has been in the works since just a few days after the CEO’s death last year, after the company optioned Isaacson’s biography for $1 million. Details about the movie have been trickling out since its announcement. It is not, though, the only forthcoming film to be based on Jobs’ life. Another independent feature starring Ashton Kutcher has begun filming, reportedly titled Jobs: Get Inspired

“The Avengers” also became the highest domestic grossing film of 2012 passing The Hunger Games in just 12 days of release and is the 13th highest grossing domestic release of all-time.

On Tuesday, the Joss Whedon action adventure added $11.7 million internationally and $8.5 million domestically for a total of $20.2 million. The international gross to date is $646.8 million and domestic gross has reached $389.5 million.

The movie should easily pass up the next three films on the all-time global list which are all three Disney films – Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides ($1,043.9 million), Toy Story 3 ($1,063.2 million) and Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest ($1,066.2 million).

Hitting theaters on July 3, the action adventure stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen and Sally Field.
