Facebook Logo 150x150Facebook continues its push to make the social network more widely available to people no matter their connection speed.

The latest update to News Feed helps pre-load a set of stories for reading when the device has a slow, inconsistent, or nonexistent connection to the web. Facebook says it will scan the device to see which stories have already been loaded and select from a batch of new stories it feels are most relevant to the user when surfing via slow networks.

Moreover, it allows people to comment on posts even when they have no connection at all. Comments will be loaded into posts/conversations once the device reconnects to a stronger network. These updates will chiefly benefit users in emerging nations where wireless networks are less robust.

Facebook said it is updating the News Feed slowly for users in order to gather feedback before a larger release.
