Racer 3W Mobile WorkstationEurocom launched the Racer 3W, a new 15.6 inch mobile workstation the company says is perfect for engineers, designers, students and other professionals that are required to travel to and from customer or work sites. This laptop measures just 1.8 inches thin and weighs 7.27 pounds, and is capable of handling high-demand applications like Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 and Autodesk 3DS Max.

“The EUROCOM Racer 3W is the best professional grade, entry level mobile workstation on the market, it has the best features, the most performance and quality and the right price,” says Mark Bialic, Eurocom President.

According to the specs, the 15.6 inch LED-lit screen in the Racer 3W has a screen resolution of 1920 x 1080, and a choice of matte (non-glare) and glossy (glare) finishes, along with an optional 95 percent Gamut/NTSC. The workstation is based on the Intel HM87 (Haswell) Mobile Express Chipset, enabling processor options up to an Intel i7-4930MX Extreme. Four RAM sockets allow up to 32 GB of DDR3L-1600 memory.

The new workstation also supports MXM 3.0b graphics cards, meaning users aren’t locked to a specific GPU. In this case, the device has six Nvidia Quadro GPU options during the customization process, ranging from the K1000M with 2 GB of GDDR5 video RAM to the K5100M with 8 GB of VRAM. Thus customers could opt for the cheapest card during checkout, and choose to install a more powerful GPU down the road.

On the storage front, Eurocom’s Racer 3W supports up to four drives: one HDD or SSD via a SATA 3 connection, two mSATA drives via a SATA 3 connection, and one HDD or SSD via a SATA 2 connection in the optical drive bay, meaning you’ll have to ditch the DVD burner or Blu-ray drive options for the fourth drive. The workstation supports RAID 0/1/5/10.

The new Eurocom workstation also provides a number of other features including:

  • 9-in-1 card reader
  • 2MP webcam capable of capturing full HD video at 30 frames per second
  • Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3 audio with a 7.1 channel audio output,
  • Two built-in 2.2 watt ONKYO speakers and a 2.5 watt subwoofer
  • Ports spanning USB 3.0, Firewire 400, HDMI output and more.

The starting price of Eurocom’s Racer 3W is $1559, which includes the Nvidia Quadro K1000M GPU and the Intel Core i7-4700MQ mobile processor.
