Eton showed off its latest eco-friendly rugged portable speaker, the Rukus Xtreme at CES unveiled. It sports a 6600mAh battery that can be recharged via a wall plug or with built-in solar panels. Available wireless connections include Bluetooth 4.0 with AVRCP and NFC, and there are two integrated full-range speakers and a radiator for bass production, along with Digital Signal Processing.

Otherwise, Eton’s latest product is meant for playing audio outdoors thanks to its IPX4 water-resistance rating. The integrated 5V, 2.1A USB port lets users charge their portable devices — and it can also act as a speakerphone. Two units can be linked for more sound, which may be advisable as our brief listen didn’t reveal much peak volume. The speaker is due to arrive in the spring, priced at $230.

A Rugged Rukus II was also shown, which shares most of its large sibling’s features. Its battery is just 1600mAh in capacity, however, and it foregoes the bass radiators. It’ss said to recharge fully from the sun in five hours, or 2.5 from a socket. Its 1A USB port will only fuel up smartphones.

It will ship at the same time, priced at $130.
