Cartoonist Ethan Young has two new projects planned for 2018 – both from Dark Horse. First, Young’s long-running semi-autobio webcomic Life Between Panels is being collected in print as Life Between Panels: The Complete Tails Omnibus.
The series is based on Young’s own life as cartoonist living and working in New York City, but goes fictional with him working on a comic strip titled Crusader Cat! that begins to invade his real life. The omnibus is scheduled to be released April 4, 2018.
Also in 2018, Dark Horse will release the second volume of Young’s The Battles of Bridget Lee, titled Miracle Child.
“The Battles of Bridget Lee is a sci-fi allegory of the Mulan folktale. It’s the journey of the reluctant warrior,” said Young in an interview. “When the story opens, we’re already in the midst of a near-century long war between humanity and an invading alien force called the Marauders. The book blends 70s sci-fi aesthetic, anime, video games, and kung fu/samurai flicks.”
The Battles of Bridget Lee, Volume 2: Miracle Child is scheduled to be released May 9, 2018.
