ESPN Brings WatchESPN to the Android Market

Following just one month after ESPN launched its WatchESPN app for the iPhone and iPod touch, the company has brought the free title to Android devices. The latest offering provides the same functionality as the iOS equivalent, enabling many cable subscribers to view the full range of live content from the sports network’s ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPNU channels.

Full access is currently limited to users who pay for ESPN programming through Bright House Networks, Verizon FiOS or Time Warner Cable. Verizon’s Internet subscribers without television service from a supported provider can receive partial access limited to ESPN3.

ESPN is currently working to expand its WatchESPN apps to include other platforms. An iPad variant is expected to launch sometime this month.
