Epson has expanded its VS series of small business-level budget projectors, with the VS210, the VS310 and the VS315W, the only one of the three offering HD resolution and a widescreen ration. All three identical-looking models weigh in at 5.1 pounds each, making them lightweight and travel-friendly, and deliver 2,600 lumens of light output. In addition, all three can use USB connections from Mac or Windows computers to carry audio and video rather than DVI or HDMI.

The models all also feature Direct Power On and Off for ceiling-mounted units that need to be powered on by a wall switch, and Instant On/Off with no warm-up or cool-down period required. All models also use the three-chip 3LCD technology for energy-efficient but reliable imaging, using 25 percent less power on average than the previous 1-chip DLP technology. They all offer VGA, S-Video and composite video and audio as well as the USB connection.

The VST210 ($400) offers native resolution of 800×600, the VS310 ($500) sports a native resolution of 1024×768, and the VS315W ($600) offers 1280×800 native resolution, suitable for 720p HD video and a 16:9 ratio for widescreen presentations. All models come with a one-year warranty, automatic vertical keystone alignment and will be available through business and electronics retailers as well as directly from the company next month.
