Dwayne Johnson’s first-ever Netflix original feature Red Notice has started production with the first set photo being posted on his Instagram account today.

Rawson Marshall Thurber (Skyscraper) helms the film which is set in the world of international crime with the title referring to an Interpol alert term to hunt down and capture the world’s most wanted criminals – in this case an art thief. Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot co-star.

Said to cost at least $150 million, the film is dubbed a globe-trotting action heist thriller based on an original idea by Thurber and Netflix reportedly hopes to launch a franchise with this. Johnson will shoot this throughout much of the first half of 2020 before segueing into a “Black Adam” shoot in the back half of the year.

Red Notice is expected to be released on Netflix in 2021, after a short theater run.
