After putting the Droid 3 up for pre-order on Verizon’s website early this morning, Motorola has formally introduced the latest handset in the series. The announcement reaffirms a number of specs that match the overseas edition, known as the Milestone 3. Both models offer a dual-core TI OMAP 4 processor, a four-inch display with 540×960 resolution, and an eight-megapixel primary camera capable of capturing 1080p video.

The company highlights the QWERTY slider’s enterprise features, including SD card encryption and Citrix corporate utilities, while global roaming capabilities are said to extend voice and data support to over 200 different countries.

Verizon promises the Droid 3 to arrive on July 14 for $200 with a fresh contract. The device is the first new smartphone to be paired with the carrier’s tiered data plans, which offer just 2GB of data for $30. Customers previously faced the same charge for unlimited data; the new structure commands $80 for 10GB of usage.
